Gunter Fire and Rescue has existed since 1949 and has been a volunteer department from the beginning. The City of Gunter strongly supports the Gunter Fire Department and helps maintain a full complement of fire apparatus.
Volunteer duties include training, equipment maintenance, fire suppression, and related emergency services. We are always looking for more volunteers, so contact us to volunteer.

Fire Prevention
We actively work to educate and inform Gunter citizens on methods to prevent hazardous situations . We also help citizens understand how to respond if an emergency does occur.
Fire Suppression
We have a variety of volunteer firefighters who train frequently to respond to your fire emergency. These fire emergencies can be as minor as burnt food to as major as your home or business structure burning.
Rescue
We respond to a variety of rescue situations including motor vehicle crashes and trapped victims. These emergency incidents often require roadway management and advanced rescue techniques and equipment.
